Why Companies are Looking to Camp No Counselors for Team Retreats
As COVID-19 moves into the ‘endemic’ stages in most western countries, we’ve seen a seismic shift in company culture. It’s often been referred to as a workplace revolution in which we’ve seen millions of companies and teams shift to remote working. The debate continues on whether the traditional 9 - 5 for these types of companies is dead. It’s certainly evolved for certain industries. While hospitality and retail remain harder to change, industries such as marketing, fin-tech, big data and creative agencies have seen a far higher proportional shift.
It seems a hybrid model is the front runner, with a few days of office time each week bolstered by flexible working from home schedules. We won’t get into details about whether this increases productivity or results, it certainly improves an individuals work life balance and too many employees, a happy life is better than a happy job. There are many benefits to this set-up for companies too. Especially in major cities where companies are reducing the size of their office space and saving reasonable fortunes on monthly overhead costs. It’s estimated that bigger companies are saving an estimated $11,000 per employee, per year because of this. The employees themselves are also saving between $2000 - $7000. On the surface level it seems like a win / win for any company.
However it’s not always going to be perfect and as we adapt and dare we say it ‘navigate’ this new working environment, the lack of in-person connections has raised questions from executives and leaders about how to keep company culture and loyalty strong.
So what can executives and leaders do to regenerate community within their companies and teams?
It seems the answer is pointing to quarterly retreats and socials experiences.
At Camp No Counselors we’ve seen an influx of HR and Event Planners dropping into our inboxes asking us to help them plan an event that will help build community culture for their employees. Almost ironically Camp No Counselors was started to help adults escape their busy working life, now we’re finding companies escaping to Camp No Counselors to bring their workers together. It’s a funny old world but we’re proud to have built a platform that can be a solution to both workers and the company they work for.
Our flagship Summer Camp sits on a 400 acres of private land just outside the beautiful Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. In addition to 100+ buildings, we have an amphitheater, campfire, yoga studio, fitness centre, sports complex, arts studio, adventure course, 8 miles of hiking trails, an on-site cafe and a beautiful 35 spring fed lake full of water activities.
This provides an unlimited world of opportunities to provide a meaningful experience for employees. Companies are signing up to our retreats as the answer to bring their employees together in a work & play environment. Keynotes, workshops and collaborative projects are blended with camp activities like dodgeball, arts & crafts & rock-climbing. Morning yoga and exercise classes are often followed by team projects. Dinners are often followed with socials, all-designed to promote internal interaction.
Not only do employees feel like they have been rewarded with an incredible experience but it’s also building a deeper connection to their job and company. Happy employees stay longer with their company, inspire others and saves time, money and energy in turnover. Because of this, we’re seeing the money saved from additional office space being re-invested into community building.
At Camp No Counselors we provide end to end event planning. With unique venues, events team and program offerings, we build your vision and bring it to life in one simple stress-free package.
